Okay, so the title of the post is misleading, since Dayplayer has been introduced to the world on a much larger stage than this humble little blog. But let’s assume one of my loyal readers hasn’t heard of them yet, and that that title was intended for him/her.
Dayplayer is a rock band based out of Los Angeles, California who’s getting ready to release their debut album sometime in the new future. Other than the fact that the band creates some brilliant music in the vein of Ben Folds, Wilco and Death Cab Cutie, the band is worth mentioning because its lead singer is a fantastic gentleman by the name of John Francis Daley. Those of you who watch Bones will know Daley better as Dr. Sweets, the perseverant psychologist who keeps trying to get into the minds of Brennan and Booth. For those of you who watched Freaks and Geeks back in the day (and if you didn’t you really should grab it on DVD; Judd Apatow’s earliest work of brilliance), you’ll know him as Sam Weir. Regardless, Daley is the lead singer, and one fifth of a terrific band. Their music is available on MySpace, and was also featured in last season’s finale of Bones.
Dayplayer – Caveman
Dayplayer (as “Gormogon”)- Neverending Summer
Check their music out on iTunes and their MySpace…plus the mp3s below. (Note: these tracks came to me in the form of MySpace rips. If the sound quality is not to your liking, that’s why. I found them perfectly satisfactory though)
Dayplayer – Hollywood Couple (YSI)
