Forget Velvet Revolver. Screw Zwan. Don’t even bring up Tinted Windows (the band most likely to stretch the boundaries of the term). Tell A Perfect Circle to take a seat. Cream? Well, OK, they can stay. But earlier today word got out about a supergroup that takes those first three out back for a ride.
Apparently back in 2005 while Dave Grohl was doing publicity for the Foo Fighters’ In Your Honor he “joked” that his next project involved him behind the drum kit, Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age) singing and providing guitar, and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) on bass. Fast forward 4 years, and suddenly Antiquiet is reporting that this pipe dream of Grohl’s (and probably several of his fans as well) as actually very much a reality. According to Antiquiet’s report, the trio has been hunkered down in a studio in Los Angeles working on an incredibly secretive project. All that can be outright confirmed about the project is that it exists. The trio has no moniker under which they’re performing, no information available about an album release, and only the vaguest information about what the group sounds like.
Yep, I’m sold. More on this story as it comes.
