Where Real Life and the World of a Blogger Meet

I generally try to keep my life as the college kid and my life as the blogger on separate corners, since I feel like otherwise its too easy for this to become a LiveJournal with mp3s. But once in awhile I suppose its cool to let the two cross paths. This is one of those times.

I’m taking a play and screenwriting course where basically my assignment each week is to keep working on various scripts and screenplays and the like. While writing the draft I showed off this past week (about a soldier in Iraq who befriends a group of Iraqi kids in a rock band, loosely based on Acrassicauda, the metal band who fled from Iraq after the war started), I started making a playlist of stuff to listen to while writing this particular piece.

Cass Dillion – Christmas in Fallujah
Sex Pistols – Anarchy in the UK [iTunes]
Bob Dylan – All Along The Watchtower [iTunes]

Speaking of Dylan, I’ve been on a bit of a Dylan spree for the last few days, starting with the MCR cover, then came the Highway 61 Revisited Album A Day, and then yesterday my friend Justin handed me his copy of the 1966 Royal Albert Hall concert, infamously known by fans as the “Judas Show”. Excited to give this concert a few spins.

I, like many on the east coast, was treated to a healthy amount of snow over the last week. None of it landed me a day off. I find this decidedly problematic, since Wednesday is my least favorite day of the week in my schedule, and a chance to bypass that game would have been brilliant.

In light of that, I woke up this morning with a desire to punch small furry animals, as inspired by yonder Super Bowl commercial.

(Images of the koala bear getting punched are now plastered to the walls of my apartment, courtesy of my roommates)

I think that covers it…gonna keep this one short, as I have class in the morning. The Scream review will have to wait till then, but I will say this much; the album is definitely best served when you listen to it in its entirety, rather than the out-of-context singles we’ve been getting so far.
